Fairfax Swimming Pool RenovationEXTREME MAKEOVER: Fairfax Swimming Pool, HOME of the Frogs EDITION
Fairfax Swimming Pool is 50 years old. Its facilities have reached the end of their functional life, and the layout and design have become obsolete. A recent health inspection determined that the dive facilities are not compliant with current health and safety codes. A full rework of the facilities is necessary in order for FSP to continue to operate, and ensure a great facility for future generations.
The Fairfax Swimming Pool Boad of Directors and Membership are planning to sell a half-acre lot from the over three-acre pool property in order to finance the design and construction of the pool facilities.
Design concepts include a "Z-shaped" pool with wider and deeper lanes (8), two 1-meter diving boards, an oval entry area into the pool with cascading steps, and a beach-entry baby pool with water play features.
If all goes well, there would be a ground breaking this Fall, and a ribbon cutting in May 2007. The goal is to be ready to open the 2007 swim and dive season with new facilities in place.
In the meantime, the diving board will be lowered in order to be in compliance - but no home dive meets could take place.
BOTTOMLINE: This is THE summer to come back and visit Fairfax Swimming Pool, and reconnect with old friends. We hope you will join us! If you have not already done so, please submit a Fairfax Frogs Reunion Directory entry (use the Fairfax Frogs Reunion Directory/RSVP Form above). You can RSVP Yes/Maybe/No for the reunion now, and update it later, if necessary. |
